2020 Move-In Guide

Welcome to EWU

We are excited to welcome you to campus! As we embark on this adventure together this year it is imperative that you comply with the protocols in place for move-in and community living. Your choices are the difference between us being a successful, thriving community or another college campus outbreak on the news.

Below you will find everything you need to know to make this a successful move-in, including:

Things to Know

Time Slots

Please do your best to arrive during the hour you have chosen for your time slot. If you are early, you will be asked to wait in the parking lot before receiving your keys. If you are running late, not to worry, we will work you in when we have space available in our unloading zones.

Guests

You may bring a maximum of two guests with you to move-in to help you. When you check in, we will ask the names of the people in your party for the purposes of contact tracing.

Masks

Masks are required any time you are in the building, outside of your room. This applies to all people in the building. We recognize moving in with a mask will be challenging, take time in your room and outside to catch your breath before you take up your next load of stuff!

Check-in & Key Pickup

On Thursday and Friday, keys can be picked up in the tailgating lots behind the football field. Below you will see a map instructing you where to pick up your key packet, and how to proceed to your assigned hall from there. Please follow our maps and not your GPS.

When you arrive at the lot you will either be instructed to proceed directly to the check-in tent, or you will be directed to the waiting area for your building. We will have staff checking in with your hall to see if they have space in the unloading area and keeping you updated on approximate wait time.

Once you get your key packet, it will contain your keys, Eagle Card (if you have submitted the form and had it pre-printed), laundry card, instructions about life in the halls, and a COVID-19 expectations document.

Unloading

You will be directed to an unloading area and shown the space to place your things. You will completely unload your belongings, please them in your staging area, and then someone in your party will go park your car to make room for more people to unload. Volunteers will be able to watch your things in addition to members of your moving party. After, or while, your car is parked you may begin taking things up to your room.

Helpful Tips

Moving Carts & Hand Trucks

We will have limited carts and hand trucks available. If you have access to a hand truck we highly recommend you bring it to speed up your moving process.

Eagle Card

Your Eagle card is your access to your building, your food, bus pass, printing credit, etc. If you have not already completed your Eagle Card request form, do so right away.

Parking

Parking permits will be available for purchase online beginning the week of move-in, on Tuesday, Sept. 15. You will not be able to purchase the correct pass until that date, so wait!
