This trip will be working with the American Hiking Society at Moran State Park on Orcas Island, Washington.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Project<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moran State Park has a wide variety of possible projects for all skill levels. Beginner projects may include trail opening, brushing and cleaning trails in preparation for summer, pulling invasive weeds, or cleaning and prepping hike-in tent sites. Moderate projects may include minor trail repairs, sign installation, and routine trail maintenance. Experienced projects may include full trail repair and trail re-routes. Volunteers should plan to hike up to 3 miles per day.<\/p>\n

This trip will be working with the San Antonio Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity – Kerr County from March 22 – 28, 2026.<\/p>\n

The Projects<\/strong>
\nIn July 2025, deadly flash floods from the Guadalupe River devastated portions of the Texas Hill Country, causing many fatalities, displacements, and over $1 billion in damages. Participants on their ASB trip will be working with two of the organizations central to the flood’s relief efforts:<\/p>\n

Habitat for Humanity of Kerr County
\nHabitat for Humanity follows a unique empowerment model dedicated to offering low-income, hardworking families the chance to own an attainable home. Habitat for Humanity Kerr County has been working with families whose homes were damaged or destroyed in the floods, providing critical rebuilding assistance and essential recovery services. Each day features a different hands-on project, which may include gardening, facility clean-up and maintenance, supporting housing initiatives, working in a nonprofit retail setting, improving outdoor spaces and engaging with youth through community-building activities.<\/p>\n
