Join the Board
Thank you for your interest in serving on the Board of Directors for the EWU Alumni Association (EWUAA).
Each spring, we recruit new board members for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins July 1st. The number of vacant positions varies annually.
Who makes a great board member? An Eag who can commit time to the cause; brings unique skills and relationships to leverage; shows the world their pride by wearing Eastern and Eagle4Life gear; decorates their office and desk; adds pride to their rides with Eagle license plates; and “flies the Eagle” every chance they get.
For questions, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations.
What We Are Looking For
The EWUAA provides guidance, counsel, and vision to the staff and volunteers who serve EWU alumni and student communities. The Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3) organization looking for working board members who represent a diverse cross-section of our alumni base, collectively support opportunities to celebrate the Eastern experience, and help improve it in the future. To ensure this, applicants are selected based on the current needs of our returning board members to create a variety of opinions, experiences, and demographics. Applicants are reviewed based on the following:
- Experience in leading and supporting organizations and teams.
- Past involvement and volunteerism.
- Vision and passion for engaging alumni at various points in their professional and personal life.
A member of the Board of Directors is appointed to a two-year term position based on demonstrated involvement, support, and commitment to EWU and the EWUAA. In accepting, an individual agrees to fulfill all responsibilities associated with board membership. New board members will be asked to attend both the annual Alumni Awards Gala and Spring Board Meeting in Spokane. This year, those are the evening of April 30 and all day May 1, 2021, and will be held virtually. Employees of EWU are ineligible.
