Our Dear Eagle Family,
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we must cancel our 50th Reunion Weekend festivities out of an abundance of caution with the current pandemic situation. We have been looking forward to celebrating the classes of 1970 and 1971, especially given the desire to reconnect in person. Our Alumni Relations team has been working tirelessly this year to bring you back to campus. However, given concerns around the Delta variant, current hospitalization rates in the region and, in particular, impacts upon high-risk populations, we want to ensure the health and safety of all our Eagles. We know this is a disappointment and we did not take this decision lightly. We conferred with members of our alumni board and university officials, while listening to feedback from concerned alumni who had hoped the pandemic situation would be different. While EWU does have a vaccination requirement in place for students, faculty, and staff, as well as a masking policy, we want to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable attending a celebration where we can gather and be together.
For those who have already registered and paid for Reunion Weekend activities, one of our team members will be in contact with you soon. We are happy to process a refund due to the circumstances. If you had planned or are inclined to make a gift to the EWU Alumni Association or our Legacy Scholarship, we can help you convert your registration into a donation.
We know these past two years have been anything but ideal—and we had hoped to celebrate all of you this fall, in-person. We will immediately begin working on how we can safely welcome back and celebrate big with the classes of 1970-1973 next year. Expect to hear from us toward the end of the year with a save the date for Fall 2022.
Thank you so much for your support and understanding. And Go Eags!
