'96 Jorgi Herron
BA recreation management, is the manager of catering and banquets for C.I. Shenanigans and Ram Family Restaurant. Before joining the company in '98 she worked as an assistant clubhouse manager, catering assistant, and activities coordinator.

'95 Tanya Hill
BAE & CER reading, recently moved to Naches, Wash. with her son Aron, 1, and spends her time teaching at a local preschool called EPIC.

'91 Katherine E.M. Daida (Malsch)
BA anthropology, recently finished a two-year term on the board of directors for Asia-Northwest Cultural Education Association. It is a group dedicated to the understanding of Asian culture through conferences, conventions, and workshops. She works for the Washington State Liquor Control Board and lives in Shoreline, Wash.

'91 Holly (Buob) Grisamore
BAE and CER reading, received her MA in early childhood education from Mississippi State University in 1996. She is a full-time mom to her sons Kyle and Ryan Thomas. Her husband, Charles, is a pilot for Delta Airlines.

'90 Cheryl Hills
BAB business administration, BA French, has recently left the public accounting business to become the controller at Columbia Reach, an orchard and apple packing operation in Yakima, Wash.

'90 Scott Maclay
BA economics, has established himself as a "top-ten" real estate agent at REMAX and the Spokane Association of Realtors over the past 3 years. He was recently inducted into the REMAX Platinum Club, which recognizes the top 3% of all 50,000 REMAX agents worldwide.

'90 Shannon Nolte
MFA creative writing, recently received her Ph.D. in English from Texas A&M. She lives in Wisconsin and is an assistant professor of English at the University of Wisconsin.

The 80's & 70's

 

'89 Tim Muscott
BAB business administration, is busy with his wife Kristen, and their two children; Gwyneth, age 2, and Amelia Patrice, age 9 months. Tim works for Microsoft as a systems analyst.

'89 Grace Olrun
BA international affairs, is Vice President of hew own business, Cup'ik Warrior Productions. Her husband Eben is co-owner and creator. Their company is a talent agency that specializes in Native Americans. She has two boys, Walker, 5 and Owen, 2.

'88 William F. Bittner
BS management information systems, MBA business administration, is celebrating along with his wife Linda, the return of their son Frank, who is on leave from the US Marine Corps in Camp Pendleton, Calif. Frank is a Lance Corporal.

'88 Tom Perrine
BA criminal justice, recently survived a bomb explosion in his carport, and underwent months of rehabilitation. Following this event, he was named the Daily World's "Police Officer of the Year 2000." He worked as a corrections officer in Hoquiam, Wash. where he received a promotion. He now works with paroled sex offenders in Olympia, Wash.

'87 Larry Horne
BAE and CER social sciences, began work on his master's in psychological counseling at the Heritage College in Toppenish, Wash. He plans to graduate in May 2001.

'86 Michael J. Cruz
BA physical education-exercise science, has completed medical school and his residency training. He and his wife Barbara (Burns) Cruz,
'87, BA marketing, will be moving back to Spokane where Dr. Cruz will be joining Spokane ENT as a head/neck surgeon. Barbara works for Johnson & Johnson as a reimbursement regional manager in the Biotechnology Drugs Division.

'85 Richard Green
BAB management, is the senior director at FOX Sports Northwest, in Bellevue, Wash. He has been with the company for more than 10 years.

'85 Michelle Troy
BA home economics-merchandising, is working in Kirkland for Boeing as a procurement agent. She and her husband Steven had their second child in September.

'84 Charles Dennis
BA personnel management, was one of six original employees of Global Mobility Systems, which became mobile.com. Software.com recently purchased mobile.com for $500 million in stocks. Dennis now works with people worldwide, hiring account managers everywhere, from Tokyo to Stockholm. He has a wife, Karen, and an 18 month old girl named Sarah.

'84 Robert Michael Siler
BA journalism and history, was ordained a deacon this year. After a summer of pastoral work in Moses Lake, he will return to Mt. Angel Seminary in Oregon for a year of school before being ordained as a priest.

'82 Charles R. Center
BA psychology, has left his position as regional attorney for the Social Security Administration and entered private practice with the law office of Robert A. Friedman in Everett, Wash.

'82 Jurg Gerber
BA government, was recently selected as a Fulbright Scholar to the Russian Federation during the 2000-2001 academic year. He will be teaching at Kaliningrad State University.

'80 Russell Dingman
BA business administration, has four children, and now owns and operates Dingman Farms in Hartline, Wash.

'77 & '83 Melanie J. Bell
BA liberal arts and public administration, has been named director of the National Student Loan Clearinghouse, Western Region. In 1997 she started her own consulting business. From 1978-1987 she served as EWU Registrar.

'77 Jeanette Bemis
BS, home economics, MA food and nutrition, started the First Cadet Girl Scout Troop in Cheney while a student at EWU. She did volunteer work in San Francisco, and was recently awarded the "Honor Pin" from the San Francisco Bay Girl Scout Council for her 25 years of dedication.

'69 Jim Davis
BA social science, is taking a big step into politics. He is running for the US Congress in the upcoming November election.

'67 Jack McBride
BA social science, recently retired after 32 years of teaching, the last 22 of those years in Colfax, Wash. He is looking forward to spending time with his grandchildren and is anticipating the retirement of his wife, Sandy, who is a nurse.

'67 David A Pietz
BA business, has taken an early retirement from his work as an environmental consultant for Eveready Battery Co. He now works part time at an independent bookstore, and does some volunteer work on the side. He also enjoys mountain climbing in Colorado and his home state of New Mexico.

'65 Patricia Holmes-Voge
BAE home economics, retired after 30 years of teaching and opened a small new and used bookstore called Pat's Books in the town of Rosalia, Wash.

The 50's

 

'57 Floyd F. Gaines
BA economics, attended Eastern, then received his teaching certificate from Gonzaga in 1961 and his master's from the University of San Francisco in 1973. After teaching fifth through eighth grade for over 20 years, Floyd started a real estate investment business in the Silicon Valley in Los Gatos, Calif. His wife, Arvilla, is recently retired from teaching, while he spends his time managing property.
