Tour EWU Campus

Join a group of future students on a 60-90 minute walking tour of campus with a student tour guide. You will visit classroom buildings, student services, and other popular locations.

Departments are open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The EWU Visitor Center is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Campus Tours

EWU is closed to the public effective March 20 to May 4. During this time we will not be offering tours.  After May 4th, admissions will continue to offer on-campus tours but will be taking proactive measures, such as limiting the size of tours to 10 people maximum and expanding the number of tour options.

If there is a student, parent or chaperone that may not be feeling well, we advise they take the time to feel better and stay home. Our tour guides and admissions staff will have the ability to communicate prior, during and after your visit to keep you informed regarding COVID-19 as much as possible.

Visitor Center staff will communicate with all visitors via email and or phone if we need to cancel any visits. If you have any concerns, questions or need to cancel a visit, please contact the Visitor Center at 509.359.6555 or email campustours@ewu.edu.

Special Tours

Engineering Tours

This is the best way for future students interested in engineering to explore EWU! In addition to a walking campus tour with a student tour guide, you will have the opportunity to meet with an engineering faculty member who will answer questions and showcase the Computing & Engineering Building. Tour is approximately one hour and 45 minutes.

Fridays at 2 to 4 p.m. Select your date and sign up!

Honors Tours

The Honors tour will introduce you to the Honors community and the possibilities an Honors’ education can provide. In addition to a walking campus tour with a student tour guide, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with an Honors staff member who will answer questions and showcase the program. It’s the best way for future students interested in the Honors program to explore EWU!

Housing Tours

Canceled until further notice due to COVID-19

Find your home with EWU Housing & Residential Life! Join a group of future students on a 60-minute walking tour of campus with a student tour guide. You will visit two or three of the most popular residence halls: Pearce Hall, Streeter Hall and/or snyamncut (official spelling).

Location

All housing tours start from the Housing & Residential Life office, located on the first floor of snyamncut (1027 Cedar St, Cheney, WA 99004).

Customized Group Visits

Time: 60 minutes
Audience:
all ages

Student guides provide walking tours of campus. As time allows, you will have the opportunity to explore the majority of the Cheney campus. Your tour includes the John F. Kennedy Library and University Recreation Center. The ratio of visitors to guides will depend on how many guides are available at that time.

Time: 30 minutes
Audience:
high school students

A typical presentation includes an overview of the admissions process, tips on how to apply for college, the actions students should take to prepare for college, and a question/answer session with an admissions representative. 

Time: 30-60 minutes
Audience: all ages

Choose from multiple workshops on college fit, college jeopardy, and more. Workshops are age-specific, and we can customize options for your group.

Time: 60 minutes

The cost of meals varies, but it typically is $9-$11 per student. Our Pence Union Building (PUB) features four dining locations:

  • Global Cuisine
  • Freshens
  • Union Market
  • Panda Express

Everything is à la carte. Credit card or cash is recommended.

Ask questions and get unscripted, candid answers from three or four current EWU students.

Time: 20-30 minutes

EWU is home to one of the most diverse student populations in the entire northwest. Activities include tours of centers as well as conversations with current students, faculty, and staff from:

Recreation activities include:

  • Ice rink
  • Rock climbing wall
  • Multiple gyms for basketball or volleyball

We are happy to coordinate the use of these facilitates, as available. Your students will need to complete release waivers.

Time: one night (Monday to Thursday)

You can have up to 50 high school students stay overnight in Dryden Hall. The cost of an overnight visit varies, and you will need to provide your own linens or rent them from EWU Housing. At least one chaperone is required per 15 students.

Please schedule your visit at least four weeks prior to your requested dates and contact us to discuss details and availability.

EWU is not offering group visits until further notice due to COVID-19

We can create a customized EWU experience for your student group! To coordinate a visit, please submit a request form at least three weeks prior to your requested dates (four weeks for an overnight visit).

Special guidelines have been introduced to ensure you have the best group visit possible:

  • Groups can include up to 55 participants.
  • If multiple groups want to be on campus at the same time, the group that signed up first will receive the visit slot.
  • Exceptions to these guidelines may occur on a case by case basis depending on the availability of resources.
