Accept or Decline Your Offer

If you applied using the EWU Graduate School Application: 

  1. Visit your admissions status page.
  2. Select view update to view your decision letter.
  3. Select the “Next Step: Complete Your Enrollment” button.
  4. Complete the “Confirm Your Enrollment” form.

You can decline your admission offer in your student portal as well.

Create Your EWU Account

Once you receive your confirmation email, please create your EWU account.

Create Your EWU Account

Select Activate Account and provide:

    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Username (provided in your admission email)
    • 8-digit EWU ID (provided in your admission email)
    • Date of Birth

After activating your account, to login to EWU systems using your Single-Sign-On, use your EWU email. Your EWU email is comprised of your Username and @ewu.edu. EWU email accounts are automatically created when you receive your Username information.

Are your graduate transfer credits eligible?

To transfer credit from another institution toward your EWU graduate degree or certificate, please use the following steps: 

  1. Communicate with your program contact about filling out the Graduate Transfer Credit Eligibility form and ask them what documentation they will require for the transfer. Typically this includes the syllabus of the course(s) you hope to transfer in. 
  2. If you did not submit the relevant transcript from the institution for the credits you would like to transfer to EWU at the time of admission, you will need to submit an official transcript to Eastern Washington University. Without a transcript of these credits on file, we are unable to process your transfer request and this can delay your processing time. 
  3. Communicate with your program contact and complete this PDF form together.

  4. After your program contact determines that your transfer credits are eligible for submission, or for an academic appeal, they will email the completed form to the Graduate Programs Office for review and processing.
    1. If there are items or qualifications missing from your submission, the Graduate Programs Office will work with your program contact to identify missing qualifications for transfer.  
  5. When your credits have been successfully transferred (and/or appealed) the Graduate Programs Office will reach out to you to confirm this status.

Steps

Your Username is used for most online services at Eastern, including registering for classes, checking your grades and paying your tuition. You’ll need it for the next step.

When you’re done with this step, make sure you remember your Username and password!

After setting up your account, you will receive a temporary password. You must log in to create a permanent one.

Your email username is the entire email address, for example: jsmith42@ewu.edu.

All official university communication is sent to your Eagles email address. You are responsible for checking it.

If you are an online accelerated student, please scroll down to the next section. Immunization records are not required for online students. 

What You’ll need

  • Your EWU email (see step 1).
  • Vaccination documentation that you can upload to a website.

  2. Click “New Users – Register”.

Steps

Register for Class

Your program will provide information about their degree requirements and curriculum. If you’re unsure of which classes to register for during your first academic term, consult your program’s website or contact them directly.

If you’re having trouble getting registered, here are some possible reasons:

  • You may have been provisionally admitted and still have items outstanding that are required for full admission. Check your application account to ensure you have completed all the items in your checklist. Use the Login ID you created when you applied.
  • Your admission is pending a degree-bearing transcript from your college or university. Your admission is pending for some other reason (e.g., missing items).
  • You may be attempting to register at the wrong time. Priority registration is for current graduate students to register for the next term. New and returning student registration begins after priority registration for current EWU students. The priority registration schedule is available here.
  • You may be attempting to register for the wrong academic term. Double-check whether your program follows a quarter- or semester-based schedule, and be sure to select the correct term when registering.

You’ll Need

  • If you missed the Feb. 1 priority deadline for financial aid, you still have options. Visit to learn more.

When you receive your Financial Aid Notification with the details of your financial aid award, you have 30 days to accept or reject each award.

If you do not respond within 30 days, your award may be canceled.

You may be asked to verify the information you provided on your financial aid application. Be sure to respond quickly.

Now that you’re confirmed as a graduate student, there are a few things left to take care of before you can start classes.

If you are an EWU alumni, skip steps 1 and 2. You already have an SSO account and Eagles email. If you have questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact the Graduate Programs Office.

Steps

  1. Log into EagleNET with your SSO
  2. Select Student
  3. Follow the prompts for Registration
  4. Select the appropriate Quarter Term and pick your classes.
    For online accelerated programs, remember to select the correct section number for the session you want:
    Session I : A01 through A49
    Session II: A50 through A74+

  • If you have been previously dismissed from a program, you may need to have a registration hold lifted. Please contact gradprograms@ewu.edu in this instance for further assistance.

More Information

Housing and Residential Life provides flexible apartment options for graduate students. These students are eligible to rent an apartment by the room. This means that you are only responsible for your contract regardless of if your roommate(s) move out. All utilities are included in rent, and financial aid can apply to rent during the academic year. Contracts are 10 months (September – June) with possible options to rent or store belongings over the summer. You can find more information on the housing website.

Many students have applied and been recommended for admission to an EWU graduate program before they’ve completed their bachelor’s degree. If this is your situation, we will need you to send an official transcript showing you’ve earned your degree before you can be formally admitted to EWU. (Note: You do not need to send us any official transcripts for coursework completed at EWU.)

Some international students may need to send us an official copy of their diploma or degree certificates. We would add this requirement to your official letter recommending you for admission.

You may have been recommended for admission while you were still finishing prerequisite courses for your graduate program. We also require final transcripts showing completion of that coursework before you can be formally admitted.

Getting admitted to a graduate program is a two-step process.

The Two Steps to Graduate Admission

Step 1:
Your program reviews your application and decides they want to admit you. When your program notifies you of your admission, that means you’ve been recommended for admission.

Step 2:
Once your program has recommended you for admission, the EWU Graduate Programs reviews your application to make sure you’ve met all minimum requirements for graduate admission. The most common pending requirement for formal admission from Graduate Programs is your official final transcript showing you’ve completed your degree and/or any remaining prerequisite classes. Once all requirements are met, then we will update your status to be formally admitted.

It’s only after you’ve been formally admitted that you can confirm your enrollment and register for classes.

If you need to request a deferral of your admission to a later academic term, you should contact your graduate program. Your program will determine whether they can approve your deferral based on the circumstances.

If approved by your program, you may defer your admission to a different term within the same academic year without submitting a new application or paying an additional application fee. However, if you are deferring to a different academic year, a new application and application fee is required. We will save transcripts and other supplemental application materials for one year. You will not be required to resubmit those if you reapply within a year of your prior application.
