'90 Kipp Sims
BAE - Natural Science, has been working on the development of a $20,000 grant from Microsoft to integrate music curriculum and technology at Liberty Junior High in Spangle, Washington.

'91 Kenneth Sheffield
BAB - Business Administration, just started his new job as Marketing Director with Birch Field Food Systems in Severna Park, Maryland. His wife's name is Kimberly.

'92 Randall Ensley
BA - History, lives in Portland, Ore., and works as a representative for Roth distributing. He married Sharon Kyriazis, '92 BAB - Business Administration, a marketing assistant for Nike, on September 12, 1999.

'92 & '99 Barb Richey
BA - Applied Psychology & MS - Communications, has recently been employed by the Eastern Washington University Foundation as a Development Director. She is also a candidate for the Spokane Teachers' Credit Union Board of Directors.

'92 Andrea Stark
BA - English, received her Master's degree in TESL from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, Monterey, California. While at the Institute, she coordinated the Peace Corps Master's International program and taught at the University of California extension. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Riga, Latvia and speaks both Russian and Latvian.

'93 Katrina Glass
BA - History, has been decorated with the Meritorious Service Medal. Glass, a company commander, is assigned to the 50th Engineer Company, Uijonbu, South Korea.

'93 Cari Wood
BS - Sports Medicine, is working for the Central Oregon District Hospital as an Athletic Trainer at Redmond High School. She and her husband , Jon, recently celebrated their daughter, Bradi Marie's first birthday.

'94 Rachelle Anderson
BA - Government, has become an Attorney for Smith, Hemingway & Anderson, P.S. She is married to Daren Anderson and the two are excited to announce that their baby, Lindsey Renee, was born on May 2, 1999.

'94 Lee Gmeiner
BAE - Reading, is now married to Adrianna Gmeiner. They wish to announce the extension of their three-member family to four, with the addition of their second daughter, Anna-Lisa.

'94 Randolph Hedin-Baughn
BS - Criminal Justice, now works for the Tumwater Police Department and as a football and basketball coach with two other EWU grads, Jack Zilla and Kelly Broderick. His wife and "Supreme Ruler" Christie, is busy with their two children, one boy and one girl, in their newly built house.

'94 John Jennings
BA - Health Services Administration, has just opened his second espresso bar, Sun Beans in Cheney. He and his EWU business partner, Travis Owens, now operate the coffee bar at the Riverpoint campus and in Cheney. They would like to invite everybody to "Come by and see us!" '94 Lori Johnson
MED - Education Administration, has been trying to improve the music curriculum at Liberty Junior High. As principal, she has worked in conjunction with Microsoft CEO, Bill Gates, and with two Eastern Alumni, Kipp Sims and Perry Bresnahan, to develop a nearly $20,000 grant to integrate technology and the music curriculum at Liberty Junior high.

'94 Jeffrey Staudenmaier
BA - Economics, is announcing his engagement to Heidi Boldman, a 1994 graduate of WSU and an employee of Pacific Power & Light. An employee of Cascade Natural Gas, he is planning the wedding for May 20, 2000.

The 80's

'80 Ronald Davis
BAB - Accounting, is now working for the city of Burbank, Calif. He recently was promoted to General Manager of the City of Burbank Electricity and Water and married to Cheryl. He'd like to say "hi" to Debbie Jennings of the School of Business.

'81 Victoria Wolfe
BAE - Physical Education, is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Business Education. She is also seeking employment after she obtains her degree.

'82 Leeann Moore
General Education, was a visiting Assistant Professor at EWU in the Education Department in 1996-98. She then took a position as an Assistant Profesor at Texas A & M University teaching graduate students in the Dallas Metroplex area branch. In February she received an award for The Distinguished Dissertation in Teacher Education for the year.

'83 & '90 Marie Grasso
BAE & Med - Physical Education, is married to Joseph Grasso and they now live in Meadville, Pennsylvania. They are proud to announce the birth of their new baby girl, Mia Grasso, on December 30, 1999.

'83 Anne Konen
BA - Communications, will be celebrating her 15th wedding anniversary with her husband, '83 Kevin Konen, BA - Art, in September. They have two children - a daughter, ten and a son, eight. They still keep in touch with the 5th floor Morrison Gang.

'83 Vicki Multun
General Studies, is now the coordinator of the Washington Music Educators Association and has selected two Eastern alumni to be accepted into the Music Hall of fame for their exceptional efforts in music education.

'85 Carl Leonard
BA - Geology, recently received his doctorate in geology from Indiana University. He is currently an assistant professor of geology at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater.

'85 Dave Weatherred
General Studies, was recently honored by the Washington Music Educators Association by being entered into the Music Hall of Fame. He was selected by "proving himself an exemplary teacher in and outside the classroom" according to Hall of Fame coordinator Vicki White Miltun, also an Eastern alumnus.

'85 & '99 Lisa Woehle
BA - Mass Communications & MED - Education, has returned to Richland, Washington and has been teaching fifth grade since 1999 in the Richland School District. She is married to Nicholas Woehle.

'87 Dick Jensen
BA - Marketing, now owns and operates Inland Empire Tours, specializing in small group tours across the entire west, both day trips and extended overnights.

'87 Jeffrey Miller
BA - Environmental Science, moved to Alcotel Internetworking, (formerly Packet Engines), in September 1999 as their Senior Technical Recruiter. Three months later he was promoted to Human Resource Manager for the state. He now lives in Veradale, Washington.

'88 Alex Momb
BA - General Studies, retired from the working world and is now spending his days being a full-time "Daddy-O" to his son Tony (8), and daughter Victoria (6). He has been married to Randa Momb for 16 years and they spend their free time umpiring.

'88 Patrick Sawyer
BA - Journalism, has recently won his second consecutive inline speed skating championship in the Northwest and placed in the top ten nationally in his age division.

'88 & '91 Lynn Bain
BAE - Education & MA - English, was recently interviewed by the Spokesman-Review for an article about secondary careers in education. After six years as a police officer, Bain chose to become an instructor, suggesting that education is a more effective form of social service. She now teaches at Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane.

'89 Jeff Ferry
BA - International Affairs, recently was hired to manage training programs in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, and the Central Asian Republics. He will be travelling to Russia and Iceland in May and June 2000. His home is in Washington D.C.

'89 Richard Streeter
BAE - Natural Sciences, has taught sixth grade for the past three years on the island of Tinian in the Mariana Archipelago and now teaches fifth grade in Kotzebne, Alaska. The temperature is a drastic 115 degrees mean winter temperature disparity.

'61 Bette Hibbery
BA - Home Economics, received a United States Trademark in May 1998 and a US patent for her new invention, the first elastic bandage for Animals that works! She is manufacturing it in Washington with products produced in the US. The Surgi-Sox» is marketed within the US and in Europe.

'62 Soula Pampori
BA - Physical Education, retired on February 8, 2000 from the Mayo Clinic Physical Therapy department, where she had worked 32 years as a Physical Therapist and Clinical Education Coordinator for student education.

'67 Pamela Ahrens
BAE - Education, has been Director of the Idaho State Department of Administration since being appointed by then-governor, Phil Batt, in January 1995. Prior to that, she served 14 Years in Idaho's House of Representatives including 8 years as Chair of the State Affairs Committee.

'68 & '75 Paul Brueggemeier
BAE - Music & MED - Music, of Ferris High School was recently honored by the Washington Music Educators Association by being entered into the Music Hall of Fame. He was selected by "proving himself an exemplary teacher in and outside the classroom" according to Hall of Fame coordinator Vicki White Miltun, also an Eastern alumnus.

'68 Rich Tschingi
BA - Sociology, retired after 31 years with Medical Lake School District with the last four as assistant principal at Medical Lake Middle School. He still officiates wrestling and completed his 27th year in the sport with four state tournaments.

'70 Robert Calloway
BA - Biology, will be retiring after 30 years of teaching in Tacoma, Washington. He plans to go into the computer business in July. He expresses his delight in shaping future generations, but is excited about doing something that he has always wanted to do, but never had the time.

'71 John Carpenter
BA - Sociology, was a guest speaker at the International Camps Security Congress that was held in Barcelona, Spain in April 2000. He was also awarded for outstanding leadership in campus law enforcement.

'72 Thomas Miller
BA - Geography, has recently had his article on the Chiquibul cave system in Belize published in National Geographic Magazine. He is currently employed as a Professor of Geology at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaquez. The article focuses on the interconnected nature of the massive caves in Central America.

'72 Annette Van Dyke
MA - English, is an Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies and Women's Studies at the University of Illinois at Springfield. For the years of 2000-01 she is the President of the National Women's Studies Association. She is the author of The Search for a Woman-Centered Spirituality, and Hooded Murder.

'72 Judy Wiskirken
BA - Social Work, is married to Michael and they reside in Walla Walla, Washington where she works as a sales associate a Tallman's Pharmacy.

'72 Michael Wiskirken
BAE - Math, retired after teaching math for 27 years in public schools and is now working in the math learning center at Walla Walla Community College. He is now married to Judy Wiskirken.

'73 Sheila Stump
BSN - Nursing, met her husband, '74 John Stump, BA - Biology, her first week of school at Eastern. They have served together as missionaries world-wide, but finally stayed in Izumacheli, an island in Lake Victoria in Tanzania for some years. After contracting several diseases and fighting off natural hazards like Cobras, the Stumps were forced to part company with their beloved friends in Izumacheli.

'76 Mike Cosgrove
BA - Childhood Development, has been named Distinguished Elementary School Principal for district #81 in Spokane for the year 2000. Cosgrove will next vie for state honors, and then for national recognition.

'77 Perry Bresnahan
BA - Physical Education, has been working on the development of a $20,000 grant from Microsoft to integrate music curriculum and technology at Liberty Junior High in Spangle, Washington.

'77 Cynthia Cappello
BSN - Nursing, has been appointed consultant to the Navy Surgeon General for nurse matters. Captain Cappello will provide expert specialty advice to the Navy Surgeon General and respective corps chiefs on matters pertaining to nurse anesthesia.

'51 Richard Hole
BA - Economics, is the president of Actionfire, inc. in Aberdeen, Washington. He is interested in meeting other business graduates of 1951.

'53 Florence Avey
BA - Early Childhood Education, still lives in her home, though she celebrated her 94th birthday in November of last year. She retired in 1971 and wishes everyone happy holidays.

'57 Walt Schaar
BA - Economics, is now the National Sales Manager for AT&T Medica Services in Spokane, Washington and Lewiston, Idaho.

The 30's & 20's

'31 Eyler Elliott
BA - History, turned 92 on October 12, 1999. He married Marie in 1935. Marie died in 1964. Presently, Eyler is a full-time caregiver to his second wife who is a stroke victim. He has retired as the principal and president of Elliott Insurance Services, Inc. in Yakima, Washington.

'37 Doris Ericksen
BA - Home Economics, has been married for 61 years and has one son, Tracy Ericksen, his wife April and three married grandchildren.

Faculty

Jerry Krause
retired from Eastern Washington University's PEHR Department this year, but is going to Orlando, Florida to accept the congratulations of the National Association for Sport and Education and be listed among the ranks of the NASPE Hall of Fame.

William Fisher
had his first college teaching experience at Eastern Washington State College from 1947-50. Now he is teaching at the University of Montana, Missoula, where he is a Professor Emeritus.

Patrick Winters
professor of music at Eastern, was recently honored for his outstanding achievement in the field of Music Education by the Washington Music Educators Association.

William Goetter
the chair of the education department at Eastern, was recently interviewed by The Spokesman-Review for an article about secondary careers in education. Goetter noted in the article that there is a growing trend for the switching of careers toward education and that legislative and economic influences have reinforced this trend.
