Access & Affordability:
Scholarships for Student Success

About This Priority

Eastern Washington University is committed to breaking down financial barriers and providing students with the opportunities they need to achieve their academic and career goals. Scholarship funds make college more accessible and affordable, providing students with the assistance they need to start college and, along the way, earn the credentials they need to graduate and succeed in the workplace.

Last Mile Scholarship

The Last Mile Scholarship is a low-barrier scholarship awarded to students who are within 30 credits of graduating and encounter challenges that may derail their education. This fund provides a well-timed boost to keep students from stopping out just short of earning their diplomas.

A recent donor-funded pilot demonstrated the power of targeted financial aid: 100% of students who had considered leaving school because of financial hardship and received a Last Mile Scholarship completed their degrees.

Named Scholarship Endowments

Named Scholarship Endowments are established through the generosity of alumni, families, and friends and create a lasting legacy while assuring support for generations of students. Named endowments can honor a loved one, celebrate an educational journey, or recognize the transformative role EWU played in personal and professional success.

Donors enjoy receiving thank-you letters and often meet the students they support. Endowed scholarships provide steady, reliable tuition assistance and ensure intergenerational impact of donor investment in EWU students.

If you are interested in establishing a named fund or want to discuss ways you can support EWU, view our Advancement staff directory or call 509.359.6252.
