Gene Engene Theatre Scholarships

The Impact of Gifts

Through giving, Professor Emeritus Gene Engene continues his life’s work of encouraging and training performing artists. His gift to the Theatre Showcase Angel Scholarship helps recruit students to EWU’s theatre major. Because senior-level students often run out of money and drop out just short of earning their degrees, Engene also donated to the Bryan Jackson Memorial Scholarship, named for an EWU alumnus and high school theater teacher. Engene’s gift will help 10 students earn their degrees. Paige Pedersen, a recipient of the scholarship, majoring in business management with minors in economics and theatre, aspires to become a stage manager. “Receiving this award has tremendously helped give me confidence in the work that I do and excites me to continue working on my craft,” Pedersen said.
