In Memoriam: Jeffrey Sodano

The university is saddened to report that Jeffrey Sodano passed away on March 3, 2026.

A campus message from President Shari McMahan said the following:

“It is with a heavy heart that I’m notifying you of the passing of Jeffrey Sodano. On Tuesday, March 3, he suffered a medical emergency while working at the Rozell Physical Plant and passed away. Jeff worked as a stationary engineer and was a valued member of the Facilities team.

Prior to Eastern, Jeff proudly served four honorable years in the U.S. Air Force, opened his own HVAC business in Poconos, New York, and worked with Cole Industrial in Washington. He joined the Eastern family in 2020. He was a devoted family man who took great pride and joy in his family. He is survived by his wife Lisa and their four sons and a daughter.

The Facilities team wrote this in honor of Jeff: “We are forever indebted for your wisdom and love. You set the bar extraordinarily high, and you didn’t even know it. The crew emulated your actions and thoughts. You can’t replace a guy like Jeff; we can only hope to live up to his expectations. We will miss you terribly.”
