Scholarships & Financial Aid

Scholarships

American Indian Studies students are awarded approximately $62,320 in scholarships each year—just one part of the $9.7 million EWU awards annually to nearly 1,500 students through a single scholarship application. Scholarships aren’t just for top GPAs or athletes—they’re based on your major, background, community service, and more. And the best part? Scholarships are free money you don’t have to pay back.

The EWU General Scholarship Application for the academic year opens Nov. 1 and closes Feb. 1.

Financial Aid

Start by completing your FAFSA! Many scholarships require a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility. Submitting your FAFSA early ensures you receive the maximum financial aid available.

We’ve compiled a list of scholarships you can apply for outside of EWU scholarships that can provide valuable funding opportunities for tuition, books, and other expenses.

Residency Tuition Rates

The American Indian Residency helps undergraduate students from participating out-of-state tribes attend EWU with a lower cost of residency tuition.

Those tribes are federally recognized and have traditional and customary tribal boundaries that include portions of Washington State or were granted reserved lands within Washington State.
