Guillermo Mendez, Dilli Gautam, and Jessica R. Ochoa were recently granted a national award for their research project “Successful Recruitment and Retention Strategies for a Workforce in Long-Term Care” by the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA). ACHCA held the 2018 Convocation and Exposition granting opportunities for students to present their research in the fields of long-term care. The three MPH Graduate students received a scholarship for their attendance upon their abstract approval and were later notified by the ACHCA board members of their award. “It was one of the best conference opportunities I have ever experienced! They really took it upon themselves to make all students feel special and the amount of gratitude we received was unlike no other, plus, we got an award and made meaningful connections with administrators across the nation!” wrote Jessica R. Ochoa. “The camaraderie between professionals in the field of administration and how they were so embracing of future student administrators was just empowering to witness” Guillermo Mendez. Overall, the three MPH students are extremely grateful to Maryann Keogh-Hoss, who was their advisor on the project, the Master of Public Health Program at Eastern Washington University, and the Mater of Public Health Association for making once-in-a-lifetime opportunities like this one possible.
