About

Belinda Hammond currently serves as Senior Lecturer in the Children’s Studies / Child Life program, and is in her 8th year teaching for Eastern Washington University. Dr Hammond has her BA in Child Development, her MA in Educational Psychology & Counseling, her MS in Sports & Health Sciences, and her EdD in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Social Justice. Dr Hammond has been a Certified Child Life Specialist since 1999, having worked at both Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and Kaiser Permanente (both in California) before starting Child Life Connection, a consulting service supporting the need for child-friendly supports in medical settings, utilizing play as they language of children. Dr Hammond is the developer of the Child Life Community Practicum offered Virtually through Eastern Washington University, and is actively developing a virtual/hybrid internship support model. Dr Hammond is currently supporting the diversification of the field of child life through mentorship for Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs).
