About

Katie Walker is an assistant professor in the Children’s Studies, Child Life and Health program at Eastern Washington University. She teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in the child life program. Walker’s area of expertise is in child life and child development. She is also a Certified Child Life Specialist and has held her certification from the Association for Child Life Professionals for five years. Walker’s research interests include examining the benefits of medical camps for children with chronic illness, the relationship between social and emotional outcomes for adolescent cancer survivors, and the importance of child life services for children and families in the healthcare setting. She is published in The Journal of Child Life, and has served on various committees within the Association for Child Life Professionals, including the Child Life Certification Commission and Sibling Task Force. She has also served in leadership roles for the Pacific Northwest Child Life Association.
