Ms. Sarah Jackson provided testimony at the American Dental Hygienist’s Association (ADHA) House of Delegates meeting in Columbus, Ohio in June 2018. Jackson spoke in favor of a policy to

“support for the elimination of the patient procedure-based, single encounter clinical examination for candidates who are graduates of Commission on Dental Accreditation accredited dental hygiene programs and who are eligible to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination.”

This support from ADHA is an important step in the collaborative effort of the ADHA, American Dental Association (ADA), the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), and the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) to assess readiness for practice and alternative licensure models. For Dental Hygienists this would be greater licensure portability and pathways to licensure.
