About the Business and Marketing Education and the CTE endorsement
The Business and Marketing Education (BAE) major satisfies the CTE requirements for grades 7-12 in Washington State. In addition to completing major coursework, candidates will obtain a career and technical education (CTE) certification through OSPI. For CTE certification, BAE majors must have 2,000 hours of paid work-related experience within the last ten years.
The BAE major at EWU provides teachers with practical business and/or marketing experience and knowledge of pedagogy to effectively instruct and share professional expertise in a 7-12 secondary education classroom. This program provides a background in accounting, economics, business administration, entrepreneurship, and computer applications as well as professional education coursework and field experience.
If pursuing recommendation for teaching certification in Washington State, all coursework listed for the secondary core coursework must be completed. The CTE Program Director, Becky Chamberlain, can assist in assessing which coursework is required based on your past education and/or professional experience.
