Deepen Your Expertise & Impact

The Addiction Studies Licensed Professionals Graduate Certificate will enhance your expertise and empower you to better serve your clients. You’ll gain the knowledge needed to qualify for licensure exams through states affiliated with NAADAC and IC & RC. Additionally, this certificate is designed for working professionals who want to specialize in addiction studies and apply for the Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) with Washington State Department of Health via the alternative pathway to credentialing.

To be eligible for the alternative pathway, you must be fully licensed and in good standing, or have the ability to obtain a professional license before applying for the SUDP, in one of the following:

  • Advanced registered nurse practitioners
  • Marriage and family therapists
  • Mental health counselors
  • Advanced social workers
  • Independent clinical social workers
  • Psychologists
  • Osteopathic physicians or physician assistants
  • Physicians or physician assistants

Admission Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0
  • Students attending this program to apply for the SUDP, via the alternative pathway, must either be fully licensed and in good standing or have the ability to obtain a professional license before applying for the SUDP, in one of the following:
    • advanced registered nurse practitioners
    • ​marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, advanced social workers or independent clinical social workers
    • osteopathic physicians
    • osteopathic physician assistants
    • physicians
    • physician assistants
    • psychologists
