Judy Rohrer grew up in Hawai’i and earned her MA and PhD in political science from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. Her BA is from Bryn Mawr College. Before and during her graduate studies Rohrer worked for progressive nonprofits in Hawai’i and the San Francisco Bay area. From 2013 – 2017 she was the director of the Institute for Citizenship and Social Responsibility (ICSR) at Western Kentucky University. From 2017 – 2018 she was a scholar-in-residence with the Beatrice Bain Research Group in the Department of Gender & Women’s Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
