Winter Break Prep

A note from Housing staff on how your student can check out efficiently for the Holidays!

November 29, 2022

Greetings from bright, snowy, and cold Cheney!

As you are aware, we are quickly coming upon Winter Break. Your students should be currently working on wrapping up their coursework and projects and preparing for final exams.

Fall Quarter officially ends on Friday, 12/9/22 and as such, the residence halls close at the end of the quarter. Because of this, students must be out of their on-campus room at 12:00pm (noon) on Friday, 12/9/22:

  • The only exception to this is if the student will be staying on campus during the break.  If they plan to remain on campus during Winter break they must fill out the winter break housing application here.
    • There is a flat $400 fee for Winter Break Housing.
    • Students who are staying on campus over Winter Break will be moving to Dryden Hall (they do not need to move all of their belongings, just what they need for the break).

Students DO NOT need to move all of their belongings out at the end of the quarter. If they are coming back in January for classes, they can keep their key and their belongings in their room. No matter how much messaging we do, there are always one or two students who fully moves out and then arrive with all their belongings again in January. It is very confusing for us. Please help us (and your student) by clarifying their plans.

If your student is not planning to attend winter quarter please remind them to email housing@ewu.edu so we can provide proper move-out instructions.

Please encourage your student to attend the Moonlight Breakfast event in the PUB NCR on Sunday 12/4/22 from 6-9pm. It is a great way to take a break from preparing for finals, eat some food, and engage with other students across campus.

Students can return for Winter Quarter Sunday, 1/8/23 at 9am.
