Inclement Weather Reminder

Published: December 10, 2015

CHENEY, Wash. - The powerful November windstorm and heavy December rains serve as a reminder to be prepared and pay attention to emergency messages during a critical incident.

Following the advice of forecasters and emergency management personnel in Spokane County, EWU and many other agencies around the region shut down early as the storm approached the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 17. This allowed students, faculty and staff to make their way home or to a safe place during the height of the damaging winds. Operations were shut down Wednesday, Nov. 18, so critical personnel could help ensure the campus could return to normal functions.

During incidents like this, Eastern relies on various forms of emergency messaging to communicate with the campus community. Please visit the EWU Emergency Page and sign up for if you have not done so already.
