Scholarship Opportunities

Modern Language & Literature students are awarded approximately $5,530 in scholarships each year—just one part of the $9.7 million EWU awards annually to nearly 1,500 students through a single scholarship application. Scholarships aren’t just for top GPAs or athletes—they’re based on your major, background, community service, and more. And the best part? Scholarships are free money you don’t have to pay back.

The EWU General Scholarship Application for the academic year opens Nov. 1 and closes Feb. 1.

Yarwood Robertson Wellman Modern Languages Scholarship

To qualify for the Yarwood Robertson Wellman Modern Languages Scholarship, you must be majoring in Spanish or ESLG and take at least one 300/400-level class in ESL or Spanish in Fall 2026 (or Winter 2027 if no 300/400-level class is available in your area due to a scheduling conflict or other reason). Spanish Education students who have completed the language component of their degree but are enrolled in a 400-level Education class in Fall 2026 may also apply.

A minimum of $500, depending on qualifications, will be awarded.

Your application must be submitted by Friday, May 22, 2026.
