May 27, 2022

Studying Abroad can be the most rewarding experience you can have during your time in college. Studying in a foreign country can lead to new language skills, career opportunities, and a greater understanding of the world we live in. Often, education abroad is seen as a luxury and financial barriers have prevented students from even considering a study abroad experience. Don’t let that stop you from a life-changing experience!  It’s never too early to start thinking about the future, and EWU Global is here to help guide you through these financial barriers and to show you how easy the process can be.

Getting Started:

    1. Identify your goals: Before choosing a destination, you should consider what you want out of the experience. Do you want your study abroad to keep you on track for graduation? You can fulfill general university requirements or take courses that will count toward your degree. Are you interested in resume-building or developing international collaborative relationships? Take an internship course that will help give you a meaningful educational experience and set you apart from the crowd when applying for future jobs. Other things to consider are what level of support would you prefer, and if you are primarily focused on learning a language or being immersed in the culture.
    2. Choose a program: Ewu has partnered with several education abroad providers that have programs all around the world. You’ll want to consider programs that offer courses in your desired academic area, the length of the program, who will be teaching the courses, the language of instruction, and support services that are available. If you’re looking for short-term programs that fit within EWU’s breaks, consider faculty-led options. If you’re looking at a long-term experience, consider our exchange partner universities.
    3. Meet with advisors:  Bring your research and ideas to our EWU Global team in 345 Patterson . We’ll help you with your next steps. You’ll also want to meet with your academic advisor to discuss how the courses you plan to take will fit into your academic plan.
    4. Research financial opportunities: Research and apply for scholarships and financial aid that will help fund your adventure.  EWU Global has scholarships available to meet your financial needs.
    5. Apply: Meet with us at EWU Global and we’ll get your application started, reviewed, and submitted. We’ll walk you through the process and ensure that you’re supported every step of the way.
    6. Get your passport and visa and travel the world!
