Get the Most Out of the New EWU Website

The Digital Communications Team is excited to announce the launch of EWU’s new website on Monday afternoon, May 7. The new site delivers a modern, beautiful first impression of campus, focusing on prospective students. However, there’s a bit of something for everyone in this new design: a resource bar to direct you to your favorite areas, a new way to explore programs, stories featuring the amazing work happening on campus, and a revitalized search function to give you accurate results.

The initial launch includes the homepage, high-traffic areas and the Admissions area. The second phase of the redesign will focus on the remaining programs and departments that work with prospective students. Sites like Canvas and the myEWU Portal are not changing with this update, and can still be easily accessed through the new EWU homepage. IT will work to ensure a smooth transition during the redesign process.

Resource Bar

At the top of each page are resources for the four main audiences in EWU’s community: current students, future students, faculty and staff, and alumni and community. The resources include popular websites for each audience (based on survey responses and analytics) and allow each audience a quick, elegant way to get directly where they need to go. For example, current students will find access to Canvas and the Library through the resource bar, while faculty and staff will find access to EagleNET or Faculty Commons.

Eastern Stories

Based on stakeholder and user feedback, the team focused on storytelling in the new design. Eastern Stories, found throughout the site, highlight students, faculty and staff that make Eastern the special place it is.

 Program Explorer

A new feature that empowers prospective students to learn about degrees and programs, it can be filtered by location, degree type, college and even personality traits.

Once a program is selected, each card contains an introduction to the degree or program, sample courses, potential career areas and the type of degree the program offers.

 Search

The search function is included at the top of every page on the new site and has been updated to bring more accurate results, including a proper directory feature.
