Maria Reyna serves as the Director of Orientation and Family Programs. She holds two degrees from Eastern Washington University, including a Bachelor’s of Art in Social Work as well as a Master of Arts in Social Work. Maria will begin her 18th year as an EWU employee in the Fall of 2020 and enjoys spending time with her 17 year old son Xavier.

Tanner Hess

Tanner Hess began her role as the Assistant Director of Orientation and Family Programs in July of 2025. Originally from Florida, Tanner received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Certificate in Behavioral Forensics at the University of Central Florida (UCF). She continued at UCF to gain her Master of Arts in Counselor Education with a focus in School Counseling. Tanner started her journey in Student Affairs in Housing and Residence Life and was previously the Residence Life Coordinator of Pearce Hall. She also has experience in Student Advising for Student Government and Hall Government at her previous institutions. Tanner is getting married this year and enjoys exploring new places and cuisine with her Fiancé.
