The Geography Program prepares students for both successful careers and graduate school. Whether you want to enter the field right after graduation or pursue a master’s or doctorate degree, we have a degree for you.
Each of our degrees features hands-on learning opportunities and career preparation.
You don't have to sacrifice quality to get an education you can afford.
We offer a physical geography lab; a soils lab; and a GIS and computer-mapping lab.
Our graduates have a great record of finding employment soon after graduation.
Earning a degree or minor in geography leads to many career opportunities:
Computer Cartography and GIS
Urban and Regional Planning
Park Ranger
Natural Resources
Environmental Science
The Geography Program supports hands-on learning. If you’re interested in learning GIS, we have software licenses and labs to help you. We currently use ArcGIS 10.7 as part of the Washington State Higher Education ESRI site license. All EWU students, faculty, and staff have access to ArcGIS software through our license. ArcGIS is installed locally in computer labs in Isle, Senior, and Kingston Halls. You can also access ArcGIS through EWU’s Virtual Labs.
