The leaves are starting to change, and crisp mornings have returned. Fall is always a special time at Eastern, as familiar traditions bring our Eagle Family together and remind us what makes this community special.
Homecoming once again brought a week of fun, tradition and new memories. Students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends celebrated their shared connection to Eastern through events that showcased our Eagle pride. From the traditional bed races to a new glow dance, Mario Kart on Ice, and, of course, Eagle football, the week was filled with opportunities to celebrate all things Eastern.
We also celebrated two major milestones in campus infrastructure. Together with legislators and trustees, the ribbon was cut on the newly renovated Science Building. This $150 million renovation reflects the state’s investment in Eastern and our shared vision for expanding faculty research and hands-on learning for future generations of students in STEM fields.
And, as a way of announcing the construction of a new press box, head football coach Aaron Best, university leaders, and EWU football supporters ceremoniously turned some dirt outside the gates of Roos Field. The new press box is among the many planned upgrades that will pave the way for improved fan amenities and even greater game day experience!
It’s been difficult to be away from campus during this special time of year, but the well-wishes and support from the Eastern community continues to lift my spirits. The Eagle family is incredible, and I look forward to trading Zoom meetings for a return to in-person time together. Until then, take care, and Go Eags!
