Review and respond to all items in each tab beginning with the Home tab

What to Know

  • You should review each section and complete all requested items under Home (Required Response) and Award Offer (Accept/Decline aid & acknowledge Terms & Conditions).
  • You don’t have to accept every part of your offer. Some, like grants & scholarships (money you don’t pay back!) we assume you want. They will appear as accepted. But you’ll decide to accept or decline loans based on your budget. We recommend you accept only the loans that you calculate you really need.
  • For information about the different types of aid in your offer, review these resources:
  • You may see you have unsatisfied student requirements. Carefully read them and be sure to complete them. If you do not complete them, your aid may not be disbursed.

Common Award Questions

No, but you’ll want to soon. If you wait longer than 30 days, your financial aid offer may be canceled. If you decide later, limited aid will not be reinstated.

We understand deciding whether to accept loans is a big decision! EWU has tools to help you create a budget, and consider what you really need. Check out our Financial Education for Higher Education playlist to learn more.

With the exception of work-study, release of financial aid begins one week prior to classes and applied first to your Eastern charges (tuition, fees, and on-campus room and board). Any aid left after EWU charges are paid is delivered to you by mail via check or to your bank account via direct deposit.

Your aid should be available the first day of each term if all of the following conditions are met at least one week prior to the beginning of the term:

  • You must be enrolled as a full-time student (8 credits for graduate students and 12 credits for all others) unless you have prior approval to receive aid as a part-time student. Wait-listed classes DO NOT count toward your total enrolled credits.
  • All required forms must be submitted to our office and award(s) accepted on EagleNET and loan steps completed, if applicable, at studentaid.gov.
  • You must meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements outlined on our Financial Aid Policies  page
  • All holds must be cleared.

SCHOLARSHIP DISBURSEMENT

For EWU scholarships, you must complete Scholarship Acceptance and upload a “thank you” letter for the donor on Scholarship Manager before funds are disbursed.

For private scholarships, your donor must send the funds to EWU before the funds can be disbursed to you.

WORK-STUDY EARNINGS DISBURSEMENT

Work-study funds are paid as earned. Paydays are on the 10th and 25th of each month. Your earnings are sent by mail via check or to your bank account via direct deposit.

LOAN DISBURSEMENT

For the Federal Direct and PLUS Loans, a Master Promissory Note (MPN) must be complete before funds can be disbursed to you. For the Federal Direct Loan, you must also complete a Loan Counseling Session if you are a first-time borrower.

The Federal Direct Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) will be disbursed according to the option selected by your parents on the Parent Loan Request (PLR) form.

For alternative loans, the lender must send the funds to EWU before money can be disbursed to you.
