Summer Financial Aid Availability

Financial aid for summer 2026 is based on your remaining annual eligibility from the  2025-2026 school year. In general, most summer financial aid is often limited to loans only. But, if you  qualify for Federal Pell Grant or Washington state aid, you may have grant aid options. Restrictions apply and eligibility will need to be determined by the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office. Receipt of either grant will count toward lifetime limits on these funding sources.

Application Steps & Deadlines

  1. Have a complete 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) filed on or before the end of June 2026.
  2. Consult with an EWU financial aid advisor about summer aid options beginning in April 2026. Give our office a call to set up an appointment.
  3. Submit the EWU Request for Summer 2026 Financial Aid Form, made available after consultation with a Financial Aid advisor.

Requirements and Disbursement Information

You must be registered for summer courses and consult with our office prior to requesting summer aid. Your summer award will not be adjusted for course changes that occur after submission of your EWU Request for Summer 2026 Financial Aid form.

You will be notified within 60 days of submitting your request regarding your summer award.

You must be enrolled at least half-time (4 credits graduate or 6 credits for all others) in degree required coursework  to receive summer federal loans and potentially Federal Pell Grant. This applies to both quarter and semester students.

If you receive summer aid for self-paced online courses, they must be completed two weeks prior to the end of the term. This requirement overrides the 12 month completion rule for such courses.

Summer semester aid will disburse beginning in May 2026. Summer quarter aid will disburse beginning June 2026 or July 2026, depending on enrollment. Accelerated Program aid will disburse beginning July 2026. For aid to disburse on the first available term date, you must be registered in at least six credits (undergraduate) or four credits (graduate) which commence on that date. Aid is first applied to your EWU charges. Remaining funds are deposited to your bank account or sent to your mailing address, beginning your first class day.

If you withdraw from all courses prior to the start dates of those courses, you must return all financial aid funds to EWU. If you withdraw after the start of summer quarter, you may be required to repay all or a portion of any funds received and future financial aid will be suspended.
