Gratitude, Joy, and Happiness Lab

About the Lab

Phil Watkins’ research focuses on gratitude and joy, and how they enhance happiness and well-being.

Active Research Studies:

  • How different domains of gratitude predict happiness
  • Interpretation biases that characterize gratitude
  • Why the cost appraisal does not predict gratitude

We theorize that gratitude enhances happiness by amplifying the good in one’s life. Future studies will investigate this theory, as well as investigate the factors that enhance dispositional gratitude.
