Overview for New Students

Cost of Attendance for 2015-2016
The estimated Cost of Attendance for 2015-2016 is available for your reference. These are the standard "base" amounts used to determine your financial aid eligibility and have been adjusted to reflect the recently approved five percent tuition reduction for resident undergraduate students. Your final cost may vary depending on your enrollment, program of study, types of courses taken, living status, residency, etc. Tuition, fee, and room and board rates are not final until approved by the EWU Board of Trustees.
Tuition Reduction and Award Adjustments for 2015-2016
The State of Washington recently approved the state budget for the next two years. During this process, the State Legislature reduced EWU's resident undergraduate tuition by five percent. As a result, the Financial Aid Office will be adjusting the awards of impacted students to correspond to the new tuition rate. We expect to finalize the updated awards by early August. If you are an undergraduate resident student, you will receive an email from us letting you know that your financial aid award has been updated. If you are required to take any action as a result of the update, your new aid award will outline the details and next steps. You can access your award at any time by visiting the MyEWU Portal at my.ewu.edu.
Students who apply by the following dates receive priority consideration for EWU financial aid for the following academic year:
- Feb. 15: Date for application for admission or re-admission to EWU (new/transfer/former students only, including undocumented students for State Need Grant)
- Feb. 15: EWU Scholarship Application Deadline (all students) - the application is now closed. Recipients and non-recipients will be notified in April and May. Please continue to check the EWU Scholarship information page for details, deadline dates, and the application links to departmental and other scholarships that have later deadlines.
- Feb. 15: Date FAFSA must be received by the Federal Processor for priority aid consideration (all students)
- Feb. 15: Date the WASFA must be submitted to the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) by undocumented students for priority consideration for State Need Grant funding.
FAFSA's received after February 15th are still considered, but awards are made on a funds-available basis and late applicants may not receive all the aid for which they might otherwise qualify. No EWU Scholarship applications will be accepted after February 15th, but departmental scholarship applications may have later deadline dates. Please see the information under "Scholarships" in the left sidebar for more details.
