About

Dean Bowman earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate in geology at the University of Southern California.

He was the interim dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM) and professor of geophysics at California State University, Fullerton. Previously he spent six years as the chair of the Department of Geological Sciences at Cal State Fullerton.

About

Jen Waldo grew up in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, and attended college at Hobart and William Smith in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York where she majored in Biology.  She pursued a PhD in Molecular Biology at the Weill campus of Cornell University in New York City where she worked out some of the molecular details of DNA replication.  Her postdoctoral studies were at the University of California at San Francisco and described the structure and function of motor proteins that are required for cell division.  Following a one-year Visiting Assistant Professorship at Vassar College, she joined the faculty at the State University of New York at New Paltz in the nearby Hudson River Valley.  While at SUNY New Paltz, she attained rank of full professor, served as biology department chair, and associate dean of the School of Fine and Performing Arts.  Her recent scholarly interests range from protein structure and function to eDNA and species molecular barcoding to development of novel genetic diagnostic tests.  She loves learning and exploring and looks forward to doing a lot of that in Eastern Washington.

Ryan earned his Master of Arts in Rhetoric & Technical Communication from EWU. He is the career advisor for STEM students and instructional specialist for the EWU Career Center. He has additionally been the career advisor for students studying arts, humanities, health sciences, and social sciences, and was previously an instructor of technical communication and composition.
