Research Compliance

The College of STEM is an academic community dedicated to providing instruction in higher education, advancing knowledge through scholarship and research, and providing related services to the community. The College has the responsibility to create and maintain an academic environment that promotes freedom of inquiry and expression while protecting the rights, opportunities and welfare of students, faculty, staff and guests. To achieve this, CSTEM complies with all federal and state laws related to research and has established rules, policies, procedures and standards to ensure ethical conduct.

This policy applies to research that involves potentially biohazardous materials conducted at or sponsored by EWU.

IACUC

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is a group that oversees the welfare of research animals in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) and Public Health Service (PHS) Policy on Human Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.

IRB

An Institutional Review Board (IRB) approves, monitors and reviews research involving human subjects. All research projects that use humans as subjects are reviewed by EWU's Institutional Review Board (IRB).

NDA

A non‚Äźdisclosure agreement (NDA), also known as a confidentiality agreement, is a form of contract in which the terms obligate the signing parties to not disclose confidential information they have shared or need to share with each other as a necessary part of conducting business together.

OGRD

The Office of Grant and Research Development serves the EWU community by assisting staff and faculty submit proposals for external funding, administer grants and contracts, ensure compliance with regulations, and conduct research responsibly. University policy requires all applications for external funding be reviewed and approved before submission.
