About

In the Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies Program, you’ll get a broad foundation in education. You’ll study assessment, classroom management, teaching methods, educational equity and literacy for diverse learners. You’ll also get an introduction to educational psychology and special education. In addition, you’ll conduct your own research and participate in a capstone course.

Educational Studies Major, Bachelor of Arts (BA)

Educational Studies (BA)-- This program provides a focus for students interested in learning more about the field of education, but are not seeking certification. This major does not lead to a teaching certificate. 

Majors in Educational Studies complete a final internship designed by the student and their advisor that is specific to the student's interest within educational fields. This degree could help students to work in adjacent to teaching, such as communications, media relations, policy, etc. 

Note: two years of a single high school foreign language or one year of a single college-level foreign language is required. Completion of two or more years of a college-level foreign language is strongly recommended.

Admissions Requirements

All prerequisites must be completed prior to admission: Please contact the Undergraduate Advisor in the School of Education.

Admission Requirements

  • Complete all in-person and online admission requirements.
  • A grade ≥B- in all prerequisite courses listed below is required.
  • GPA Requirement: a minimum ≥2.8 GPA.
  • Provide scores for the Washington Educator Skills Test-Basic (WEST-B), SAT, and/or ACT (Reading, Writing, and Math). This is a state requirement that must be met before full admission.
