About Graduate Prep

If you do not meet the English requirements for admission into a graduate program or the Graduate Preparation program (“Grad Prep”), you can enroll in English courses first through our English Language Institute’s (ELI) Intensive English program. This program will provide you with English language study needed to advance toward admission to your graduate program

To enroll in the Intensive English program:

  1. Apply for admission to EWU’s English Language Institute (ELI).
  2. Study English through EWU’s Intensive English Program until your English proficiency qualifies you for either the Graduate Preparation program (“Grad Prep”) or full admission to your graduate program.

Apply for admission to your graduate program once your English proficiency (either demonstrated through ELI coursework or a test score) meets the requirements above for Grad Prep or full admission.

Intensive English Program

If you don’t meet EWU’s English proficiency requirements for full admission to your graduate program, you may complete one of the following pathways at EWU to earn full admission.
