Thank you for your interest in our Forensic Science Program. The following is a brief summary of the program content. Please contact me at the address given below for any additional information.
Program Summary:
- The Forensic Science Program is one of several BS degree options offered by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Eastern Washington University.
- The Program consists of 151 credit hours of courses primarily in the basic sciences of chemistry, biology, mathematics and physics, in addition to other university graduation requirements.
- Students must first complete a specified set of core science courses during the first two years of study, and achieve a GPA of at least 3.0 in those courses, before being officially accepted into the Forensic Science program.
- The main areas of emphasis of the Forensic Science program are Forensic Chemistry and Forensic DNA Typing analysis. Students enrolled in the program will also complete an 8-week internship and a research project on a selected forensic science topic.
- For all internships with law enforcement agencies, the forensic science student will be required to pass a thorough background check conducted by that agency.
- The forensic science program at EWU meets the basic entry requirements for employment at state or federal forensic science laboratories.
