Special Session July 11, 2016-July 15, 2016: MTWRF 8:00AM-5:00PM

The EWU Department of Music welcomes students who seek careers in music and also provides music instruction and experience for the general university student. Four degrees with a total of eight options are offered for students who wish to become teachers, performers, composers, conductors, theorists or scholars. A music minor is also available.

Our goal is to provide students with musical instruction and experience of the highest possible quality. Our belief is that the study of music significantly enables students to become informed, responsible and appreciative members of a democratic society-which is a professed goal of Eastern. We recognize differing needs of those for whom music is to become a profession and those for whom it will be an avocation or a listener's art.

What are the degree options?

  • Music Minor:
Intended for students who need or would like to earn a music minor in addition to an undergraduate degree outside of music. For example, students could major in psychology with minor in music. Download Student Handbook Here!

Graduate Degrees:

What can I do with my degree?

With a music degree, you may seek employment in music education, music businesses and performing groups--bands, symphonies, jazz/rock, etc--as well as individual performance careers. The placement record of graduates of the Department of Music is excellent.
